How easy is it to change horse insurance companies?

Every year I change car and house insurance to get the best deal but I have stuck with my horse insurance company for 4 years now. At first it was because they paid out for two large claims in the first year but now it looks like a hassle explaining to a new company about the claims. I believe some companies want a print out from your vets to see all the treatment they've had over the years. I moved over a year ago so have changed vets which I could see being a problem. Has anyone changed companies and how easy was it to do if you've had claims in the past, not to mention the small things that you used the vet for but not claimed?

My vet won't deal with E&L so I don't want to use them.

When you change just bear in mind you won't be covered for any pre existing conditions claimed for or not. They do ask you on the claim form if your horse has ever been treated by another vet, so I should think you would have to send them the history from both vets.

Plus does anyone know how much it costs to get a print out from the vets - I'm sure they must charge for one!

I changed in sept from NFU to SEIB. They wanted copies of Pre-purchase vetting. Receipt from seller and vets reports. Luckily I keep everything to do with mine so still had copies, I also sent off a copy of her freezemark paperwork. Biggest hassle was getting the vets to email / fax her history over to SEIB. Took me 3 phone calls and 2 emails. They eventually sent it to me - all 10 pages of it !!!!!!.
