We are re-arranging the grazing, but friend reckons we need 100 posts to do two strips, I think we need 60 tops, so wondered what distance apart they actually needed to be?

Thanks

Depends!
For small paddocks I go for ten strides between posts
For massive fields 20 strides
For keeping moo cows in I have gone up to 25 strides

However worth adding I am short, so my stride isn't that long (I get 4/5 in 12 ft)

Thanks, thats brill - the current one is every 3 paces!!!! Will take out every other post to re-use, and just order another 10 and more tape! Will be a big saving!

The guy across the road has offered to bale half the big field we've not used yet

I have 15 for a 200m stretch so *counts* every 13m. I would ideally have more though, but haven't got round to getting them yet. Plus mine wouldn't dream of escaping so not important that posts are close together.

Depends if you're using plastic or wooden. I used wood & put them every 10 strides & used rope instead of tape. The rope remains tighter & doesn't get blown about in the wind like tape. I think it looks tidier aswell. If you're doing long lengths of fence then I would certainly put the occasional wooden stake in, this will keep the fence alot more secure.

We have wooden round the edge of the field, but am using plastic ones to split the big field up, well, to keep May apart from H's youngsters!! she hates the yearling with a passion - he escaped into her field once, and ran back under the fence in less than two mins after she chased him round!! He is scared stiff of her!
