How far apart should wooden fence posts be?

As title, we are dividing up our field into two using wooden posts and electric tape. OH and I are disagreeing over how far apart they should be

For electric tape, I'd suggest no further than 15ft spacings; preferably less and make sure you have brace bars at either end, and depending on the length, probably a couple on the run.

How long is a piece of string?

If it's just a couple of electric tapes, 15' is probably huge overkill... You might comfortable go 20-30' ...or more..

All depends on the fence and the horses you are trying to contain!

ours are about 12 feet apart

I'd suggest between 10 and 15 feet.
