Just wondering how long people travel for shows, the reason I ask is there is a Friesians show in scotland (the only one of its kind) its where I bought my mare from but its 5 hours away in a car!

Is that too far?

Only really do bs with daughter. For a general show no more than 45mins, a qualifier 2 hours max & national finals we have done a 7 hour trip with overnight stay xx

As long as she is a good traveller that should be no problem, I used to have to travel 3 - 4 hours each way to shows when living in North Wales often with no overnight stay. If they do not travel well it is different as they tend to not settle and do not perform as well at the show.

I would just add that you should try and take someone with you. The furthest I've taken my daughter is a 4 hour drive away for a RC final. We stayed over night but in the competition (endurance) my daughter ended up in A&E for 4 hours having her knee stitched. We ended up arriving home at 10pm after a rather stressful time. I dread to think how she would have coped if she'd been on her own.

Agree, go for it & take someone with you who can share the driving. A 5 hour car drive will take longer in a lorry. Nothing better than taking part in a breed show, for you & your horse. Nearer home, Warrington Horse Show, May 26th, has Friesian classes, usually ridden, equitation & costume classes. Schedule on the web site next month.
