How far do you travel to your local tack shop?

I often drive 30-40 mins to my 'local' tack shop, after a trip on Sat, my OH thinks I'm mad :o

We have feed/bedding etc delivered, & I do shop online, but sometimes I just fancy a mooch and a good rummage around! If I'm looking to spend a decent amount of money, like on a bridle or boots, I also like to see it before I buy, if that makes sense!

Anyone else have to travel a fair distance? How close is your nearest place for tack/riding wear etc? Or do you not bother & just buy online? :)

I have a very small and expensive tack shop a few miles down the road, I only go there in emergencies

The large one I go to regularly is about 30 miles away

5 minutes to the local one, which is brilliant :) the owner's really nice, happy to order things in for you/let you pay the next time you're in (only if she knows you, obviously lol); and Derby House is about 20-25 minutes away.

The nearest horseshop is over an hour away, but luckily we have a lot of farm supply stores nearby who deliver our hay and shavings. Plus there is always the internet to help max out my credit cards!

5 mins for the local feed merchant who also does bits n pieces ie fly masks and lotions and potions. There is a tack shop attached who we don't like so would prefer to travel nearly an hour to The Old Dairy Saddlery. They're our fav stand at Badminton also. I'm not connected at all to them but just like them.;)

Have 2 about 5/10 mins away. There are 4 within 15 mins drive and 2 big ones within 40 mins.

Very lucky! :)

The nearest one to us is about 3 hours away, but the nearest BEST one is 8 hours..... (Theres nothing in between the 3 hour and 8 hour one).....

BUT in the next month or two, we will have one about 2 minutes drive away from our house :):) Actually not even that..... and me and Gekko will be the owners of it! :) We are opening a new one here :)

I'm amazed at some of the distances that some of you have to travel to a tack shop! Makes me feel really lucky- I have 4 within 10 minutes drive, two of which are brilliant and sell 'everything'. Within 20 mins- half an hour away there are another 3, and Robbinsons and Derby house are 45 mins away.

Perhaps explains why I never have any money!

Glad I'm not the only one then! 2 hours is a really long way to go...

SheelCoburn - best of luck on your new venture! Very exciting :)

magichorse - whereabouts are you in the country? Very jealous of your horsey shopping!

Double_choc_lab - The Old Dairy are great, have bought online from them & always visit them at Badminton :)

Would love to have somewhere closer than 35-40 mins though :(
