A friend and I are off on a road trip in the first week of May......Delivering one foal who will be 7 1/2 months old, hes getting dropped off in Victoria, then heading up to NSW to pick up a mare, up further into NSW to pick up another mare (maybe two - will wait and see on that - the first mare is a Cleveland Bay x TB (mum to one of our three CBSH stallions), the second is a gorgeous shetland mare, and the third MAYBE one is a CB x TB again)....

This is where we are going:

Worked out the whole trip is about 4500 km and should take us about 8 days cos neither my friend or I are up to driving long distances without a decent break.

How far do you guys go to pick up and drop off horses?? lol

If the horse was exactly what I wanted, for a good price, I would be prepared to travel from Essex (where I am) to Scotland!! I would consider importing from Ireland, and I would even consider viewing a horse further away, and importing that, but I would seriously look into the costs first, and it would have to be VERY special!!!

Diesel is cheaper in Australia isn't it? I hate to think how much it would cost to do that kind of road trip in a horsebox in this country.
