i live in bristol, and im going to view a horse 2m down cornwall , ouch !!!!! truro to be percise, but am having 2nd thoughts as i dont enjoy to much motorway driving, hes sounds beautiful happy hacker, i can understand people that get competion horses from afar, but iam only a hacker now ... wat do u think , or am i being a baby , Lol

I travelled 3 and a half hours to see the horse i bought. She came to me after a 5 hours travelling in a lorry. She's fab, and she's only a happy hacker.

If the horse sounds like the one for you, dont let distance put you off.

Certainly into europe!
We flew up to scotland to try one too. We did consider going to NZ to look at one, but i think i would ask a friend who is over that side of the world to go look for me first.
One of my friends didnt find anything they liked on the continent so went to the states!
Now that was a long flight back for that mare!
Id go, its not that far! and he may be the horse of your dreams!

Hell that is not far. I live the other side of Truro and happily travel anywhere in England or Wales and I guess if I thought I really needed to Scotland. Then again I am looking for competition horses.

When are you travelling as long as it is not a Saturday you will be fine?

I travelled from Herts to Bath (2 1/2 hours). I probably wouldn't travel more than a few hours as I don't have my own horsebox so have to figure in transport costs for getting the horse home. It would also depend on how long I had been looking and how desperate I was! Good luck - it's not that far and he could be just what you are looking for.

Bristol to Truro is a pleasant enough journey though and it's not toooo far. Yes I would make the trip, even for a happy hacker.

I generally won't travel more than a 3 or 4 hour round trip for horses, but if there is a special one then I would ask a competent friend to view it on my behalf and then if the horse was good, I would buy it unseen and have it shipped up to my place.....but only if it was a youngster. I wouldn't ever consider buying an older horse unseen again.

2 hour flight to Glasgow, overnight with my sister in Kilmarnock, better part of a day travelling Ayrshire and Glasgow looking at different horses, then one hour drive across to Lanarkshire. Then flew home again from Glasgow 2 days later. Spooks had a far longer journey to get to me though- picked up from Lanarkshire, 2 1/2 hour drive to Eric Gillies yard in Kelso, overnight there, then 6-7 hour drive to Aberdeen to ferry and 14 hour crossing overnight to get to me, poor lad!

I've just got back from veiwing some that were 3 hours drive away, and that is the same as what we did to get the boys, but there are so few driving pairs/teams for sale that we have to travel to see any. For a ridden Horse i wouldn't go further than 1 hour anless it was really special
