How fussy are you about the surfaces you ride on?

Just being nosey really.

I am really quite fussy about it, where some others on the yard seem to still ride/lunge on a fairly deep and chopped up surface and not worry about?

How do you feel??

I'm same as you. I always keep an eye on the surface where I am as it can get deep at times. If it does. I won't ride in it. Agree with you totally!!

To a point yes. Can't do hard work on a bad surface. Although I'm a firm believer horses need a variety of ground, within reason, while being ridden to be able to cope with whatever comes their way.

I'm fussy. The 20 year old surface was replaced last week. It's a bit deep but a whole lot better than hearing concrete down the long side! I've rarely used the school until now!

I am very fussy! I dont understand how some people can ride on half the surfaces i've seen at places and how their horses dont have serveral problems with their legs ect from doing so

I am fussy...a bit deep occasionally isn't too bad but inconsistent surfaces- deep good,shallow- are dangerous to tendons imho.
I've moved from places with unsuitable surfaces as I want the best chance of a sound horse helped to do the best work poss....

Very fussy now I am managing a big horse with arthritis in his fetlock. Have recently moved yards as the outdoor was too deep throughout winter, but the indoor too hard.

He went bi-laterally lame, but sound within a couple of days of moving yard. A good surface and he has gone from strength to strength, back working at novice level, when before we moved he felt dreadful.
