To find a male Shep dog, between 0-4 years old?

Answer: IMPOSSIBLE!

Why? Because the bigotted rescues get to 'em first!!! I have been scouring preloved, gumtree, adtrader etc in the hope of finding the right dog before it makes it into the prison that is UK rescue - and do you know what?! It cannot be done!! I looked at GSD rescue and they seem to be overflowing with dogs - do these dogs EVER get OUT of GSD rescue is my question - being as its ticking on to 8 weeks since I applied with them!!!

I had a dream (lol) that I had a nice home, two nice dogs and lots of love to give a GSD needing a home. But it would seem that what you really need, is to know the right people or to call yourself a "rescue" because then I could have thousands of GSDs!

Sorry, I'm just ranting!! Feel free to ignore!

PS// there are two gorgeous GSDs living near me, shall I just steal one and be done with it? :D

Oh no, has it gone tits up with Vinny? :( As you know I have chased them at GSD rescue several times and each time get promised they will look into your application, obv nothing has happened. I have been very tempted to tell them where to stick it with the home checking, but that would be penalising the dogs so I have to bite my tongue.
Did you ever contact the secretary at the GSD club of Wales, I am sure she could help by keeping her ears open. We will find you a dog I am sure, in fact you could have Evie at the current time. My brother painted the kitchen yesterday and whereas I fully expected the dogs to get a touch of paint on them for the life of me I cannot understand how her whole back has got covered:eek: I think Buffy must have picked her up and rubbed her up and down the wall.:D

LOL @ that mental imagine MM!

I haven't heard from Vin's owner since Sat - a little bit worried he needed to rehome Vinny quicker than I could accomodate, but still, there's hope!!

GSD rescue is like the Bermuda triangle. They go in, but who knows if they ever come out again!!! TBH every day I look they are having "urgent rescues" in which never seem to move off the site, along with regional dogs who don't move. It seems they are able to shift when it comes to GETTING the dogs but not when it comes to rehoming them..

And to add insult to injury - I emailed them again, with my homephone number, and some ideas for a local home checker - and still no reply.

Bascially, they hate me lol

How far are you willing to travel? There are several advertised near me (OH has vetoed having a second else I'd already be going to pick one up :p).

I've already had a rant about the rescue situation, we were in exactly the same position, utterly ridiculous that we ending up buying a dog out of the paper instead.

Rescues really are a law onto themselves aren't they? You would think they didn't want to rehome the animals! I had same issue trying to get a rescue rabbit, again like many people ended up getting one out of the paper whose family didn't want him anymore :( (they'd only had him like a month!!)

For the right dog I'd happilly travel, ideally it wouldnt be far because of the amount of time they'll have to spend in the car, but tbh if the dog was perfect, there is no upper limit.

Does it have to be male? :p

Black german shepherd male with his pedigree papers.
3 1/2 years old.
Lovely temperment, house trained, good with children and other pets.
He has his collar, lead and harness as well as his toys, bowls, bowl mat, big bag of food and his bed.
Genuine reason for sale.
Buyer to collect.

Kitty I really would give Sharon a bell, that way you could get a dog who hasn't made the grade showing and you'd also have a better idea of it's background and parent's health checks.

Not to put you off rescuing of course and no offence Blackcob but I don't consider those sites rescuing, I hate them and no one who advertises there will get a penny off me, personally. A lot of the time they are just a vessel for people to dump unwanted pets and irresponsibly bred litters for cash.
How the hell can a ten week old puppy be good on the lead?

Nice black male though.

The first one, however adorable - is a girl!!!!

The second one however, is quite lovely, although I was looking for a black and gold. Where are they from?

I know, I know, it's just a real heartstring-tugging thing - and I know that's how the scammers and the numpties supplement their dole money, and I hate buying into it/being such a sap, but those dogs bloody well deserve better. :(

If the rescues weren't quite so anal about the whole business it wouldn't be neccessary at all. Well, I know they have a duty of care to find good homes and all that, and now I'm arguing myself in a circle, so I'll shut up and go away. :o

Handsome chap, isn't he? I was slightly concerned by the mark on his nose, looks like he's either had a muzzle or a badly-used halti on.

I know, I was just overcome by the cute fuzziness. :o I wanted a dog rather than a bitch, and look how that worked out... :p

They're both in Telford. Just coincidence that they're both black, I will keep an eye and ear out for any black and golds. :)

FFS - a 10 week old puppy............:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

goes to bang head on wall...........:mad::mad:

Ohhhhh but it's all cute and fuzzy and small, it couldn't possibly do bad things like sh*t and p*ss on every surface in the house, cry all through the night and chew everything not nailed down (and probably most things nailed down, too).

It worries me that these same people who get rid of a puppy after what, a couple of weeks at most, are allowed to breed and own human children.

Havent read this whole thread so please dont shoot me down!!

I find that these rescue places cry they have no funding and that they are over-run with animals are looking for new homes but when you go along to look and enquire about adopting one they seem to come up with every excuse as to why your not suitable to adopt one of there animals or it just takes them forever to get back to you. There's so many genuine good homes about for these animals and these rescue places just don't seem to see it!

^^ you hit the nail on the head there Lila!

And CC can you send me her details again please, I have looked through my PMs but can't find it!

I'm here! Sorry been at work, leaving my poor neglected doggies home alone.
Re the 2 all blacks, the little bitch looks very undersize for a 10 week old pup, she is either badly reared or not pure bred imho. Male looks quite nice, but not a lot of info on the ad. If there were any up here I would be happy to try and get more info. What have you found locally?

Will pm you sharons details.

Hi, I'm also going down the Gumtree, Preloved route as don't pass the homing criteria for most rescues (work 4 days a week flexitime, but got dog walker, big garden etc etc). My lab is now 7 and I want to carry on doing agility and other dog sports so would like to rehome a younger dog to train to take over as he gets older. It's a complete minefield with lots of innocent dogs caught up in a horrible 'trade'. It's opened my eyes I can tell you. I had no idea that these sites existed for pets. So, following this week's wild goose chase to Essex (twice) I'm still looking for a young lab or lab/pointer type cross. Will keep trawling the small ads for the odd genuine advertiser. Good luck with your search.

Sorry Kitty, it has been a long morning/afternoon, full of morons all out to get me.
Did you get sorted with Sharon's details, and what did you find?

And yes BC, that does look like a muzzle/halti rub and agree MM, pup looks like it has been crossed with something.

More clout?! I've posted on there once.:D Suppose I could try and put something general on . I am hoping some of the shep folk will see my comment on FB and I can ask them to keep their ears open too.
