How hard is it to take decent pictures of tack!

Am trying to sell a load of wintec bits and bobs (well by trying i mean put it all in a pile by the door)!

Was feeling pro- active last night so got the camera out and well... epic fail!!

they all look awful!

Any tips.....

I find natural light better than the directional coloured light you have indoors. Placing the saddle on a rack with a plain pale background helps (drape a pale rug behind), same with bridles and other odds and ends - just lay neatly onto a pale backing.
Make sure it is nice and clean too. Takes only a moment but makes a huge difference to the finished pic.
If your camera can't focus too close then best to take a pic from further away but perfectly crisp, then you can crop on the comp to improve how much you can see of the tack.
