For all of you that have sold or selling their horses, how the hell did you do it? Is anyone as upset as me when you wrote it? I have tears rolling down my face to the point I couldn’t see my screen. It’s taken me 3 hrs to write a rubbish advert, because I don’t want her to go. I have just broken up with my long term boyfriend hence my gorgeous TB is now having to go ASAP. But I think I am more upset about her going than him!
Well let the joys or not commence of selling. I feel sick to bone.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Could loaning or sharing be an option? Circumstances might change that you don't need to part? Just a thought.
Hugs.

^^This.

Surely you could find a nice loan home for her on six monthly contract terms? And then if your circumstances change, you can have her back. I really feel for you. Not only having a relationship break up but also losing your horse.

OP I'm sorry to hear that. I've never been in the position before, but understand that you must be going through a lot at the moment. ((hugs!))

I was going to suggest the same thing as OldNag, good luck with everything, hope it works out well for you.

It's awful :( I hate doing it. Our pony is off up for sale soon as daughter is moving onto horses & I'm dreading it. She is too even though it was her decision.

I bought her a bracelet made out of his tail hair for her birthday last week & she just sobbed buckets at the thought of him going :(

Like oldnag said, us there no way you could loan her out for the time being? xxx

Sadly loan is not an option, I have 2 other horses, one has laminitis and would never sell him and probably couldn’t and the other is my ideal horse. So the only option is for her to go. I can’t afford 3 (barely two) as my partner use to pay and can’t run the risk of her coming back in the winter time. Awww how the mighty have falling, so so sad. Anyone want a lovely USA bred mare? Heartbroken doesn’t come near!

It's very sad, im having to make a very hard decision and may have to sell my horse as well, ive just found out im pregnant and it's silly for me to have two horses, and we could really use the money. Ive had him 9 years, he's not my ideal horse (he's a bit of a nutter! )but ive got attached to him. once ive told my parents im pregnant in a few weeks il try and make up my mind whether to sell him or part loan him, I want my mums advice as she has horses too.

You have to do what's best for you in the long run, ive kept in touch with a girl I sold my old pony to about 4 years ago, when i saw how happy they were and how much she loved him, it made me feel a lot better about selling him to her. Im sure who ever you sell to will be happy to keep in touch.

I am here with you right now. I have been trying to sell my boy for seems like ages now. Did the same as you and wrote adverts for him which were deliberately never going to sell him.

Finally had someone who was really keen on him, lovely couple, they put an offer in on him and had him vetted. He passed the vetting but then they pulled out at the last minute.

I had psyched myself up for him going and gone through the floods of tears etc etc only to find he was staying!!

Cue the floods of tears again as I realised I had to go through it all again. Its not easy at all, and I never expected to be having to sell him at all, but I am the same as you, already have one horse who has become sound after 2 years off with an injury, and I could never sell her.

I wish you all the very best, I wish I could say it gets easier, but I'm finding it gets harder as the market is crap atm.
:(

Really sorry to hear this. It is very hard I think. I suppose it depends for some people a horse is a project that they do not get attached to. I was sad to sell each and everyone of my horses over the years, would have kept them all if I could they were a fab bunch, every last one of them.

Anyway, all I can offer is a *big hug* x
