How important is riding to you?

What should we see!

I am getting a mini shettie, if i rode her not only would it be cruel, but at 6'2" I would look utterly ridiculous

I do enjoy riding, and miss it a lot, but I love my hosses, so just being around one is enough

Horses are both sport and lifestyle to me. Riding is very important and I now ride to train and compete but if for some reason in the future I couldn't ride I would still choose to be around horses. Addictive furry things they are

If I could never ride mine again I wouldnt love them any less, to me riding is just one part of horse ownership, and there would still be plenty of other things to enjoy if I couldnt ride.

Both of mine have been off recently for various illness and injury reasons, one still is, but to be honest I think this crap weather is making me feel like Im not missing out on much!

Saying that, part of me having horses is to ride them, and I wouldnt have bought and pay the upkeep of two very big horses unless I was going to ride them, if I purely wanted horses as pets, I would jsut stick to ponies, much cheaper!

I love riding and i'm a competitive rider and ride as a career - that said my favourite part of having horses is just being around them. Today I didn't ride Rock due to the rain, and instead just spent hours and hours (had afternoon off) with him, talking to him, grooming him, doing normal stable chores, then sat in his stable on my grooming box reading a magazine for an hour, just being around him, and i love it.
Riding is important to me - but its HORSES that are my passion. Having that amazing immense bond with a horse, like i have with Rock, it beats anything else on this earth.

I'd probably lose the will to live if I didn't have mine

My kids are quite right when they tell people if I'm not near a horse I feel ill. I'm not seeking any other treatment than my hourly dose!

my boy is retired, although not even in his teens yet! So I take him in-hand hacking, xc, long reining - anything we can do that means I dont have to be on his back really. He loves it

It isn't the be all and end all.

I enjoy my horses and really feel that having them around keeps me sane, out of the six I have now only two are ridable, one is being started and the others are broodmares and a foal.

I ride when the whim takes me, just hacking about, sometimes I don't feel like riding for weeks on end, so I don't. I still spend hours a day with them, the colt is being started and I am breaking the gelding to harness, I never feel guilty that they are being wasted, they don't care even though they all enjoy personal attention and the ridden horses obviously love going out.

I am incredibly fortunate having them outside the back door and I don't like to think how long I spend just sitting on a bench under a tree watching them. Whether I am riding or just watching them I find them incredibly peaceful creatures to be around and can't imagine not having some sort of equid of my own, ever.

I put that I only have them to ride.

Now I love looking after them and always buy horses young (or breed) and keep them in retirement as long as they are happy. I love the whole aspect of having a horse but would not have any if I could never ride again or lost ineterst in riding, as for me they would be just too time consuming and expensive to have as pets.

I love riding and it is quite important to be but if for some reason i couldnt ride my horse i would never get rid of him, and it certainly wouldnt stop me from keepin them.

Im mainly a happy hacker and do some schooling, but havent realy got the facilities or transport to do much else. though i would love to do some XC

Riding is important to me but not tht be all and end all. If I couldn't ride again I'd like to think I could have a pony and take up driving, especially scurry

Well, with this awful weather you have to have them because you love them, as riding certainly isn't on the cards!! (for me anyway) I couldn't be without mine - I enjoy the riding, but I enjoy just being with them even more.
