I posted a few weeks back about my rising 4 year old mare that suddenly dropped a lot of condition. Well she has been having adlib hay in field and have been feeding her on top spec and alfa a oil for the past week, hows she looking?

Definite improvement already, coat is looking healthier too. Won't be long before some good old spring grass is on the menu, best thing for putting weight on in my opinion.

The grass has started to pop through but now with this snow it'll just be naff again

Top spec is amazing though the change in a week I think is unbelievable

yeah defo improvement, her coat is much healthier! i still think her skin is a bit tight and her hip bone and ribs are showing but they will disappear when summer comes and the spring grass arrives! she has much more of a barrel on her in the last one!
are you riding her or is she un broken?

Ive just put my tb on top spec he is really demotivated walking out but all of a sudden he has a spring in his step and is walking forward for the first time.Im not sure if its the top spec or surgery for spavins has worked but its made a huge difference if its the balancer. Hes only been on it the same amount of time as your horse.
d and h Build up with the feed you are using and kwik beet helped my horse at the same age to put on 150 kg.He weighed 350 and is now a healthy 510.He was in work at 4 1/2 but you could add kwik beet to help her weight .
She is looking much rounder and has a better sheen to her coat.
I phoned topspec 2 days ago and they recommended cool cubes for fibre and protein and posted loads of literature .Very helpful company I will be switching over to the cubes once we have used up all our current feed.

She's looking better, and the spring grass will make a huge difference. My mare used to stop eating her feed and eventually her hay as spring approached, regardless of what we tried to tempt her with. This obviously led to condition loss (though not quite to the extent of your mare). As soon as the grass came through she put it all back on again.

It doesn't really help that Alee has had a huge growth spurt. She probably still weighs the same but is a good few inches bigger
