Hi, some of you may remember that I took on a rescue mare earlier this year. Things have been going really well, About 3 weeks ago i noticed that she was dropping a bit of weight going into the cold weather. I have upped her hay and feed and she has started to look better again, although still not up to weight, weight tapes puts her at 445kg. Could you please look at these pics taken today and let me know what you think. Thank you in advance.

Thanks Faracat, yes her dapples are lovely. We are slowly building up her work, but where she had no muscle when she arrived as she is slowly building up she is getting a little sore, so ad chiropractor out to her on Tuesday. been walking inhand since and restart lunging at the weekend. The good news is she is now legally mine. The lady from the rescue actually owned her and she agreed to sell her to me :D

Thanks ladies. Freddiesgirl Do you think she is ok weightwise then just needs to build muscle? her shoulders seem very narrow to me, thats where she lost the most from?

Yes - more muscle. Keep the calories going in but I'd be aiming for muscle and not fat. She looks quite a lean type so she doesn't need any excess strain her joints etc :)

Thank you. will pick up the workload again this weekend, unfortunately we dont have hills here as we live on the romney marsh, but will do plenty of beach walking with her. Again thanks ladies for the advise
:D:D:D

just a quick update, Pru is doing brilliantly, she is managing to canter on command on the lunge. Trot is a lot more balance and she is beginning to relax. picking up workload slowly and she seems to be enjoying working. anyway a couple of pictures from today.
