Hi all,

I normally struggle to keep weight off my mare as she is a mega-good doer! I think shes looking slimmer at the mo so here goes......she is 16 years old, 16hh & at the moment (due to weather) is in light work. In the summer shes in light to medium work. Im a bit obsessed about topline and feel that I need to build hers up a bit but we have been working on that with diet and excercise :)

sorry the pics arent the best! ;)

Thanks that's nice of you to say. They are basically Belgian warmbloods from the the south part of Belgium which where they are registered with the sBs stud

I have the same problem as you. I have a Dutch Warmblood x welsh d and weigh tape her every 2 weeks, actually she is still muzzled when turned out.

The top photo is a bit dark but she has a nice bum.

Difficult to tell really how she's looking - apart from the obvious lovely gloss to her coat.

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say rather than fat, she is simply unfit - and has that dropped down, not in work belly.

Light work as in schooling, lunging, hacking & jumping but in lower amounts than summer due to weather. Did hack for an hour today tho since weather was fine :) in the summer we do more & work towards comps :)
