My old lurcher has got arthritis, not surprising seeing the miles she has on her chassis and the speed at which those miles were clocked up.
The last couple of months she will randomly swing round and bite her stifles, it has got more frequest this last couple of weeks and now she is often on 3 legs, resting a hind.
She is off to the vets tomorrow and in an ideal world we can find a better painkiller for her. She on rimadyl now, is there any injections they can give dogs to stop pain? I womder if she has damaged a cruciate, a lot of this behaviour has started since she went of after a herd of fallow.

I will ask about that, thank you. I do see that she can't carry on like this, but I love her so much, silly really.

I've no experience of what you describe, but if horses and humans can have cortisone and steroids, by injection, I'd have thought that dogs could too. It will be interesting to hear what your vet says.

Alec.
