Is anyone harvesting their barley yet it seems very late round here as they havent even started it yet and they are usually pretty much finished with barley by now waiting for wheat

No wheat or barley grown round our way but they have had 3 cuts for silage, which is more than they've had for I don't know how many years.

It will be different depending on the areas, assume that in your area they normally start fairly early then? There is some about but it entirely depends on the crops, the winter was very wet, which also means that there was more spring crops planted than normal, it just entirely depends on the crop, some areas seem to of done better than others, it's going to be a hard year for farmers again I've seen quite a few fields that weren't attempted to crop, and other fields with crop in really don't look good. Should all have our fingers crossed that when they do start harvest we have a long enough spell of dry weather for them.

We have one of our fields mixed cropped. It's about 30 odd acres and is down to oats and 90% alfalfa/grass. I checked the oats yesterday and they look like they'll be ready to take in about 2 weeks time and hopefully the alfalfa will be at the same stage (it looks like it will be) as we will be harvesting those crops together. We've done first cut on most of our hay fields and a couple that we took back in May should be good for a second cut soon. The barley looks to be about a week away from harvest. My farm is tile drained so we were able to plant in April, some farmers don't have tile drains on their farms and the fields were still too wet to take the machinery in there to plant so they will have a later crop than normal.

Yes very late, we only grow spring barley but up the road they have winter and that isnt ready yet.
The rape hasn't been sprayed off yet either, that is latest ever that I know of.

The farm I am on is about 4 weeks behind at the moment. Biggest issue is that in the one 40acre field the barley is has about 3 different stages of crop despite being sown at the same time.

Everything is late this year here because it was all delayed in being sown. Some farmers have already chopped down the wheat despite only just starting to turn. One farmer up the road has 'harvested', ploughed, drilled/sown and I noticed this morning the very feint green hue of a new crop!

Maize is very late, rape not so much.
