to go to the farm at night? Do you have a time limit??

no time limit, but the farmer who owns the lot will mooch around if some one turns up late to check they it is not a burgular

well ive been know to go out and check on mine at 10 but they are only just outside

I usually head up about 8, home for 9. But I have been up until 10 before if there's a problem or I get talking!

I used to have lessons at 9 -10 and then 10-11 simply as my instructor was very good and was booked all the time so he done my lessons at this time,

No any time within reason and if YO is told, as would worry that somebody was breaking in.....but, a sick horse then any time!

I went up about 9 o clock and got a very disapproving look of the YO i only went up to check he was ok! Will find out tommorrow if she has anything to say about it we have been given no time limit and just wanted to see he was ok as i have been away this weekend and my friend did him! I felt better for seeing him! Cannot see how this is a problem!

On a thursday i ride from 8-9 so am up there until about 930-10pm are YO doesn't seem to mind

I've been to the farm at every hour of the night

farmer knows its me by the nosie i make

i often check them at 11 o'clock at night. I've stayed their all night with willie a few times when he's been ill !!!!
farmer is happy because i check the cows as well I've saved a good few cows and calfs when they have been calfing late at night.

No I would not get any reaction at that time ....she might pop out of the house to check that I was OK! ....and ask if the horse was OK!

due to the dark nights ect yo locks up around 5.30, all the others on the yard are on full livery (3 of them) so they come in with the yo's own horses. if for any reason i can't get there i ring my sister to do mine as she works for yo. (kids you never know what to expect)
but as the nights get lighter it will start to be around 7pm, if any horse needs checking on during the night then he does it himself and will ring the owner concerned. but he does check them all nightly as well as having cctv linked up to the house.

im usually home by 6:30pm and bring the horses in around 6. as it stays lighter i can ride with my friend who doesnt get up there until 5:30 so will be up later then.

YO has set the electric to go off at 10pm and on at 6am so if lights are left on by mistake they will go off overnight. if your going to be out of those times if you let them know they will change the timer for you. though i never thought of this when my mum had to look after my horse as i was in hospital and he had an abscess so had to be up there at 5 before work... she had do muck out by torch lol

My yard is quite particular. We have permission to sort horse out later on Monday and Wednesday because of work. I still feel bad though, cos the dogs all wake up and I always feel like a burglar! lol! My YO says its ok though cos she knows its us on those days

We always done latest by 7.30pm though - later in the summer.
