How long after EDT visit for Horse to settle?

Bit of advice please. My horse had the EDT out and had very sharp back molars plus a step between 8 and 9. I called him out because Mr C had been showing very obvious signs of discomfort in his mouth.
It's a week now but even though he is much better he still chucks his head around on firm contact and tries to put his tongue over the bit.

So how long would you anticipate before he trusts his bit again?

He is ridden in a NS Team Up he has had his saddle checked over properly and has had recent physio.

I get what you say but when I say firm contact we aren't talking fists just little squeezes.
I am paranoid in case it's my fault.

I'm not trying to criticise, it's just that so many problems arise from people trying to get the head in the correct position, when there isn't the strength through the back and hindquarters.

That's ok no offence taken I agree with you my instructor would hang me from a telegraph pole if she thought I was trying to get his head in and down. It's just trying to get a consistent contact.

I'd call your EDT to have a chat. Maybe a sharp edge was missed or something else needs attention, but I wouldn't think he should still be fussy after a week.

I thought I should update people on my original query in the hope it will help others.

Interestingly it did take more than a week For him to settle in his mouth.The problems were twofold.

Firstly we had to reestablish the trust that when he reacted or moved in anyway it wouldn't hurt. He had been continually sore in the poll from the way he set to protect himself.

Secondly while he had issues in his mouth I had been backing off and dropping the contact so that he could put his tongue back in the right place and he was of the opinion this should still happen.

Thirdly I need to keep softer stiller hands or as my RI says 'Vienna Reins don't Fiddle'.

Ok so that's three not two but the important thing is that I have my lovely horse back. He is a very sensitive chap considering he is built like a small armoured tank.
