How long after gelding/castration?

How long after his castration can a 10-month old "gelding" mix with mares, please? Been a while since I've had a colt cut and I've forgotten

I left Ted 4 months which is probably longer than necessary he was also 10 months.

My 10 month old colts still live with mares and they will be gelded next month so they won't have to leave their herd. Typically for a young stallion the time period is 6 weeks after gelding before putting back in with mares.

We gelded a 3 year old Section A and it took him the best part of a year to calm down. He had never been used and was a sweet pony temperament wise, but he would sxxxxx the cat if she stood still long enough.
