As per title really? I have used Coopers tonight and was wondering when I
might start to see any possible results.
Pony is itchy - took off of Alfalfa and saw a great improvement. I had a little ferkle under his coat  and I'm sure I saw what I can only describe as a little sandy wriggly thing. Def not a full on louse like a human head louse, but a wriggly worm type thing! Wondering if this was a louse that had just hatched.

I'm about to itch myself raw after typing this!

The main thing is they stop itching. 3weeks is the length the vet told me to wait for a second application. I had a Shetland who itched madly and I could see nothing on him. I did him with spot on and he continued to itch so got the vet. He couldn't find anything either and said do him again and that cured him!

I use it all the time on cattle and sheep and its very effective.

I've just been through a serious lice saga myself!! Two very hairy shetlands must be a field day for lice!!

Are you sure they are lice? Have you looked through the ponys whole coat? If its lice and the pony is itchy, its likely that there are quite a few. Mine must have had them a while but didn't itch for long before I found them and they were riddled!

I don't know about Coopers, but I used Deosect. A lot died in front of my eyes (literally!) But I didn't notice a massive change until about 2 days later. I think it was aprtly because their coats beign so thick meant I probably didn't get right on their skin on their whole bodies. The day after I saw some live ones still, but the day after that (and since then fingers crossed) none at all.

As for the coat, mine had been itching and you could see their coat was wet where they had been doing so - this stopped a few days after. Definitely repeat in 2/3 weeks, I've just done my second go even though I haven't seen any live ones since the first time!

I think it takes 24 - 48hrs to kill lice but may take a few days for horse to realise not as itchy as before. Redose in a weeks time, twice if that makes sense? Makes sure any eggs that have hatched are taken care of. If you havent done so already, hot wash any grooming kit, rugs, numnahs etc etc as it only takes one microsopic little b**tard to reinfect everything!
