I have had to sell 2 horses over the last year and half and have just spent some time doing a quick trawl of the horse mart and horse quest sites seeing if either of them are on there as I know that they were both sold on shortly after I sold them - and I do it quite regularly

. Do any of you do this and if so how long before you stop doing it?

If I look on the horse sale sites I always search for the two I sold in the last 2 years. One I hated and wouldn't care if I saw it or not but I hope never to see Ginger, he was a star!

Well, I still look for George and he was sold to Robert Walker in 2000, who sold him on to a lovely lady from Yorkshire, who sadly had to sell him a year later; he ended up (not through her) at Judy Thurloe's and that is the last I have heard of him as they were very unhelpful when I enquired. It doesn't stop me looking though so that's at least 5 years so I must be a really sad old bird!

No I never do this. I seem to have a great relationship with all of my buyers and they have always told me when or if they were considering selling - mind you one has done this so far and I've been doing this a fair old while now.

I have just recently sold one that I know is going to be a seller-on at some point in the future, however I still hold a % ownership in him, so I will still have a say who he is sold to ultimately; but not whom those people sell him to. He is such a horse with enormous presence that I know he won't end up in a bad situation.

Some of my horses I have sold with contracts stating that I am to be given first refusal on them, which I believe these people will honour.
