How long before you rode after a Caesarian?

I know this is different but do take doctors advice. I rode a few weeks after haveing an ovary removed. Bad mistake, put me back in hospital. Everyone is different so do listen to your doctor. I can still remember the tearing pain. Never ever again. Please be careful.

oh oh does this mean you have a bundle of joy

I remember reading your post about horses and babies and if they mix so was curious how you were doing?

Basically, I would say be guided by your body.

I haven't had a caesarean, but have had four ectopic pregnancies, which have resulted in a full laparotomy (same op as caesarean).

Ball park figure, I would say six weeks, but you will soon know if this is too much, your body will tell you! Any pain whilst riding and particularly - mounting and dismounting means that you should wait a little longer.

Once you actually feel comfortable driving the car again, then I'd leave it a good week after that (and for goodness sake take it easy the first time). Probably about 7-8 weeks from baby being born. You will certainly know if you overdo it, and feel it the next day. There's still a lot of healing going on in the inside remember.

Fruddy - bad luck on having 4 ectopic pregnancies.

My friend has had a caesrian I think she was told at least three months, meaning three proper months. It takes a while for the muscles to go back so doing anything too quickly will bugger it all up. I hope you have some very supportive bras too!!

From what i can remember i rode about 3 weeks after but only light hacks (depending on how i felt) as long as you take it easy & you have no problems it should be fine but dont take my word for it everyone feels/heals differenty, go with how you feel and maybe get some advice from GP???

I had to wait for about 8 weeks. Doctor told me to wait for 3 months but I basically said whats the worst case senario if I got on a 8 weeks and he looked displeased with me and just said dont fall off!

I made sure I got on a dobbin the first time to see how it felt. Few painful twinges but that was it. I am now 20mths down the line and dont seem to be able to do sitting trot to save my life these days, anyone else had the same issue?

Well I rode after 4 weeks and never looked back. My advice to anyone else riding after a c section would be to wait at least 8 weeks, I was lucky, others may not be, good luck!!
