How long between wormers, Equest and Equitape?

Hi does anyone know how long you need to wait between using Equest and Equitape, is it a couple of weeks?

You don't need to wait, if you'd used Equest Pramox you'd have given both in one dose.

Thanks yes I avoided Pramox purposely as horse previously had a reaction to it so decided to try using one drug at a time. Thanks for your response.

I've left it a week between the two, but a fortnight is probably better to be on the extra safe side.

Have you done a worm egg count? You may not need to do the Equest. Likewise, a clear saliva test for tapeworm mean that you don't need the Equitape.

Hi yes I did a worm count in Nov and it was low but lady recommended equest dec / Jan time. Equest does the encysted redworms which don't show up on the counts so they advise to do it anyway. I should have done the tapeworm test as well really but didn't get round to it, I have heard its not 100% accurate but i'm by no means an expert. I just tend to have the normal counts done and take the labs advice for the next wormer.

Where have you heard that misinformed view of the saliva test? It's a really useful test properly validated by the excellent scientists who invented it. I don't think they would be very pleased to read that.
