May has only been on it since Wednesday, have given her a couple of days off to chill, but last night, she seemed noticeably quieter/more chilled. Am going to ride tonight to see how she is.

Just wondered how long before you noticed a difference?

Thanks

It takes about 3 days.

I was thinking about you yesterday as madam has been on it for sometime now. However, she had her jab yesterday and the vet re-scanned her to check all was OK.

Anyway, she talked to me about other alternatives as Regumate is so expensive. SHe suggested trying the marble which I will and she also said she could have her ovaries removed

Apparently it's a straighforward operation with a months rest. However, I really don't like the idea of that, so will try the marble and if not go back to Regumate as it works wonders.

did she say how much it would be for the marble?

That is my vets plan, if the Regumate works, then we are going for the marble option! I would'nt fancy putting her through any surgery.

So is you mare back to being nice again on the Regumate?

It only about £70, but the success rate isn't that high (can't remember the figures). She's a completely different horse on Regumate, even down to silly things like when she wasn't on it she would refuse point blank to go into water etc and we would have a full on battle. As soon as I put her on it she goes in without arguing with me. Oh and I can stop and even canter behind other horses out hacking which is a bonus

That even makes it worth paying for then!!!!!! We are off to Somerford Farm ride on the 22nd, so that will be a good test for my stroppy Madam!

From the vet, simply as I have been lazy about getting a prescription. Corroy maybe heavier than May though as she weighs about 600kg (heifer)

Just to add though she has been having phantom pregnancies whilst on it.

She bags up and runs milk that's all and she gets a bit lazy. I have spoken to the vet and she said a lot of mares do it and not to worry. Her behaviour is OK though.
