how long do you keep your horses from your house?

Unfortunately there are no yards anywhere around me that offer good facilities and good grazing, so I have to travel... and even then I have to sacrifice something!! i.e peoper winter turnout and hacking!

So at the moment, mine are about 10 miles from home and 20miles from work

Unless I traveled 50 miles each way, I wouldn't get everything we wanted! :(

There was me thinking I'd be closest at around 100 yards! Only got two there atm, then another two at around half a mile, a further two at around 8 miles and the last one is around 25 miles. The last three are looked after by other people though. If they all come home at once it will be interesting as I have stabling for six - and that involves pressing the pig shed into use.

How far away is the yard? About 15 miles/25 minutes drive. There are closer yards but am very happy with the one I am at and have no plans to move :)

About 50m :D

do you go every day? Or are they on livery? Must cost a fortune in diesel

My pair are 2 miles away- 4 mins to get there door to door! :)

Have kept them further away previously but just felt I sent most my time driving and not enough riding, hence why I moved them- best thing i did.

Sometimes I just pop over for an unplanned ride after vie got the kids to bed and I'm back within an hour

Was 2 miles & 5-7min drive or 40 min walk. Now bout 1 mile away (road way), 2 mins drive but there's a footpath along canal from mine to yard so bout 10min walk

I assume Boolavogue means metres, not miles!:D
LOL sorry yes I mean metres :D i do indeed go every day or something I'm spewingly lazy and look out the window...

Just over 4 miles.
TThe place we kept them at before was only 6 miles away but in rush hour traffic could take 40 mins or more, a real pain! Now its a few mins and much nicer.

I keep mine at home, my barn is 20 steps away! My paddock is right outside my sitting room. When the window is open he will stand with his head in the room, its annoying because he fiddles with stuff on the window sill. My field is 25 steps away. I am very lucky.

I'd love mine to be able to come to the window, but OH complains about mare "ploughing" the garden :D

Boolavogue - very luck indeed!

Mine are now 1.5 - 2 miles away depending on which way I go. So if all else fails, I can walk or cycle. As it is I drive and stop on the way too and from work.

I love having them closer, I used to be 7 miles from yard, and 20 miles from work. I'm 2 miles from yard and 6 miles from work so save quite a bit of time.

2 are 8 miles away, the other is 60+ miles away, over an hours drive on a good day - so I only get to see him once a week, however, benefits outweigh the distance.
