I'm wondering whether to buy in 400kg or 200kg bales of haylage and just wondering how long they last when opened?

I estimate that I'll need to feed about 200kg a week in total so the larger size would last me 2 weeks but will it keep that long?

This is how I used mine (lg square bales). Unwrapped from top to bottom, although left sq on bottom so it kept it cleaner.

I then used it as much as I wanted. As it was unwrapped it never went mouldy. It dried out a bit, but that never bothered me. I kept an old turnout rug over the top to protect it, but it was in a large barn.

If it heated up, I would take sections out and leave to air before feeding. I could easily make mine last over 10days. -Except they ate it all.

we normally use the 400kg ones they tend to last 10-14days but it depends on the weather last winter they lasted well as it was so cold but as it warms up they get mouldy much quicker!
