I confess, I'm new to daily poo picking. Having relied on harrowing for years (or shared grazing with sheep and cattle) this year we haven't been able to get the tractor in as fields been so wet and now horses are in a smaller paddock poo picking is a must.
I only have 1 small horse and 1 little filly, who between them seem to poo A LOT! Today I had 10 mins to poo pick before having to leave for school pick up, and I found I was a bit pushed for time. They are in a max of 2 acres, flat paddock and I am creating a pile at the edge for a tractor to come and pick up when able, so don't have to push miles!
Is it normal for a daily task to take normally this long? Am i being slow? I use a shavings fork but is there another better 'poo picker contraption' out there?

Thanks.

I also poo pick daily & it takes me about 10/15 mins. I have 3 horses in the same field. I used to do it every few days, but now in a routine to do it every day & can't stand it if I miss a day bit OTT with it :p. I use a pooper scooper I find it easier than a shavings fork

I usually take 10/15 mins to do my 2 (separate paddocks, roughly three quarters of acre each) mare poos in one place :) gelding goes where-ever he fancies & the crows like to pick through it :( Either rubber gloves or poo picker thingy (short fork thing & a scoop for want of better description!!) So 10 mins to cover 2 acres sounds pretty good :D

I prefer a scoop and rake, I find this quicker. Can;t get on with shavings forks, especially when it gets frozen in winter. 10 mins is about right though on 2 acres.

Molly is usually in a herd of about 8, I do 45 mins-ish once a week (4 barrows), but we all do different days so it gets cleared most days.

At the moment she is in a small paddock after surgery, so it takes 5 mins max as its a small area (half a barrow max)

Blimey you lot are super quick! it takes me about 15-20 Mins on our restricted grazing paddock I do all the edges then work my way inwards - Im quite proud of my poo picking as just had worm count result today - our 2 were last wormed in Feb - My boys count was 50 and my mums mare was 150 - so the daily poo picking is working!! only have to do the tapeworm and encysted bots in Nov then worm count 4 months & 8 months if they are low too no need for wormer till Nov next year- A fab result I think!

I poo pick every other day. It takes me about 10 mins & I never quite get a full barrow - 14hh cob out 24/7. I find it dead easy with a shavings fork & barrow, although the grass is short xx

i do it twice a day.
Get less then a full wheelbarrow and takes 5 to 10 minutes a time!

Makes it easier to push to much heap!

makes it a quick easy job rather than a chore!

Ditto! I use a trug and rubber gloves, bucket on side and scoop the doddles in! I can easily do it in less than ten minutes.

5 mins if daily, ten if two days etc but he is in during the day. I use an equine speedskip, fantastic thing, holds three poos, and has a rake which goes thru the grass and everything, doesnt make my back ache or my hand blister!! get one, best £25 ever spent of a horsey item

I have 2 out 24/7 , if I do it daily it takes me about 20 mins maybe , I'm not very enthusiastic though!! Now it will be dark after work soon mum will help me so wel blitz it a couple of times a week and do a couple of wheelbarrows each , it won't take long at all :)

I use a poop scoop and rake, similar to the speedskip. Mare is on 4 acres with two other big girls and on first sight the field is pristine as they only go in the longer patches. I do at least 4 barrows a week, though the field is rarely cleared completely. I don't get too hung up on it as they don't soil their grazing, but always do my bit.

Morning & evening, max 10 mins each time for 2 Fuzzies - sometimes can take a few mins longer to do if gone into longer grass as TFs piles are so small they get camoflaged :D

Use a poop-scoop & the rake thing that comes with it (Stubbs ones) for v short grass or otherwise in longer grass a large orange plastic shovel & side of a wellie to shove it onto shovel.

Never use gloves - I'd be creaking! :o Only use them for skipping out stables in the depths of winter.

We do it twice daily....using rubber gloves and a bucket it takes 10 mins for 4 of them out on about 2 and a half acres....and it only takes that long because they will insist on pooing in the long grass where I have to literally walk on top of it to find it!!

This other than I use a shavings fork. I do turn it over to rake the poo first as it's easier to pick up that way. :)
