Got my new boy 4 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for his passport.
Previous owner claims to have sent it off the week before I picked him up (bearing in mind they had known 3 weeks earlier I was having him) and its still not back!! I need to get him registered with my vet but they won't until I have passport number. Understandable I guess but what if I need a vet, will they still come?
He's only a yearling so it's a new passport, is it normal to take this long? I did keep asking if they had sent away for his passport every time I visited him and just got told yeah yeah it was in hand. Little annoyed as I feel somehow he's not totally mine until its in black and white

I had this with my youngster. Ask them which agency they sent it to and call the agency to ask where it is. If they've sent it off as they say you'll know where it is and if they haven't it should give them the encouragement to get it sorted out for you.

My girl's passport arrived within a week of the agency receiving the paperwork from the breeder so it shouldn't take that long.

Good luck. I hope you get it sorted soon. :)

I have never heard of the vets needing passport numbers, they have not asked for any of mine nor have they looked at the passports unless doing annual jabs. If you need a vet they should come out to treat the horse.

If you know who the horse is passported with, contact them directly and ask where it is or how long it takes.
