How long for hoof abscess to heal?

It seems to be draining nicely. Have polticed since Friday.

Got a dressage clinic next weekend - should I cancel?

i think it really varies but mine took over a month. it was very slow to drain though. once it has drained and healed but still needs some protection you can get your farrier to put a pad over it under the shoe so that he can be ridden. next week may be a bit soon though.

Yes, it's like a piece of string. I've had some clear up within a week and some have gone on for over a month.
Hope yours clears up soon and that you get to your dressage clinic.

This is draining from his frog.

He is no longer lame so I'm keeping all my crossables crossed (including my eyes!)

In my experience those that burst naturally near frog, coronary band for example heal quicker than those dug in the sole. I once had a vet dig a big hole in the sole and it was a nightmare to keep clean for months and the discomfort rumbled on a bit. Some I've never noticed until the slit grows down on the wall. Hard to say exactly really tbh. None of the others I've witnessed have rumbled on like the one dug, but I've no real idea if that is relevant or whether looking back it was the site ie. solar abscess?
