Basically how long did it take for your insurance company to pay out for death? Put the claim forms in today and need the money to come through so i can get a new horse as im bored sense-less with no mucking out and riding and having something to pamper!! Were with the dreaded two letter company if that helps :D

I was with the same people as you.
Horse was put down in August last year after 3 months of laminitis.

They paid the vets by the end of September, Paid the disposal and bits and bobs by the end of October and paid me out Death at the end of November.
So i got my money nearly 4 months later.

The death part of your claim is separate to the vet side of the claim and dealt with by different departments and i think that's why they were quicker to pay the vets than me.
Make sure you complete the death paperwork as that is different to the vet forms. I didn't realise this and nearly didn't get my claim in on time!!!

I was on the phone to them at least twice a week to chase and keep a copy of everything you send as they had a habit of losing paperwork.l Luckily i had everything on file.

Fax or email what you can to them so they don't have the excuse of getting lost in the post.

The worst part was when it took them nearly 3 weeks just to get the cheque signed...I always got "it's being held in the payments department. The cheque has been generated and we are just waiting for a signature"!!!

I didn't find them to be too bad to be honest just a bit frustrating at times.

Good luck...and keep hassling them!!!

Im with them too and they processed the claim within 3 days and I recieved payment (for sarcoid) week and half later.
Just phone them monday and ask and they will tell you whats happening.

they are fast doing claims now, they told me 3 days and thats what they did.I did ask them about payment and they sorted it so I would be payed quick, fair play to them they kept their word.

Hmmmm the form is just one sheet of paper!! We fill in one side and the vet the other, they may have changed it!! Well all the vets fees and disposel are paid for so all the money now just has to come to us. But ... theres a big BUT ... on the insurance they have him down as 6yr old but hes 7!! Hes been insured with them for 3 yrs and they should have know he was 7 as they had him down as 6 last year, but when we got the renewel through at the start of the year we didnt bother to correct it as we werent expecting this!!! Do you think they'll try there hardest not to pay out :/ as its rather worrying me now

You need to ask them for "Death Of Horse" claim form. They don't automatically send it out.

You will need to prove that your horse was worth what you are claiming for. I had to get a letter from my farrier (can use vet or if you have proof of purchase) stating that in his opinion he was worth what i was claiming for.

After fees, excess etc i got about £400 less than he was worth but still enough to buy my new horse.

I think you can download the claim forms off their website otherwise call them in the morning for the Death Of Horse claim form which is different to the vet fees form.

Shouldn't worry about the age thing, i don't think they will not pay out for a small typo...It's all about proving what he was worth.

Ps...Sorry to not say this earlier, but I'm sorry to hear you lost your horse.
