We are wanting to holiday with our horses this year, my daughter has suggested visit her in the New Forest, with the horses.
From Northumberland to Hampshire took 9 hours when we took our mare down, she arrived cool calm and collected, but our horses will be doing both ways, is it too long a journey for them in a trailer

No its not to long, make sure you carry water and hay in case you get stuck in traffic for instance and pull over around 3-4 hrs through the journey and let them stand for a while with some water , we sometimes have to travel as much as 13hrs for a 4 day competition and the horses love the attention at the services. ;)

Gosh that is a long journey!

Personally I would find that a bit longer than I would want to have my own stuck in the trailer for without a break. What about trying to find somewhere en route to stay overnight with the horses so they can have a bit of a break, and finish off the following day?

I am sure you already know that you just HAVE to ride your own horses in the forest, I honestly think it doesn't get much better than what we have down here, pretty much go wherever you want to. So I would definitely recommend you do bring them down here, I just think an overnight stop will probably be the best way forward for all of you, but that's just my own opinion.
