...till they sell I suppose :( but when do you call it a day as it's just not happening and costing money!

Experiences of sales livery appreciated, not sure what to do!

It would depend on your requirements and original agreement.
I take some sales liveries and the time scale varies, the market is difficult to judge.
Are they marketing it well,is the price realistic, are they getting viewings, what feedback are you getting???
These are things I would ask.

Done all the main adverts, realistic price, about 9 viewings (in 3 months) but no offers at all. Horse has gone foot perfect for everyone, even those that can't ride that well. Just wondering when to call it a day and wait till next year..

I know the market is terrible at the moment but feels like he'll never sell!

Something must be wrong, with 9 viewings if he has not sold,I frequently sell to the only viewer if ad. is right and the horse goes well.
You can pm me a link to the ad if you like and I will give any ideas.

My yard has sales livery in from time to time. We had a really sweet pony in who was brilliant with the staff but failed his vetting, yard got him right and then he failed the vetting 2nd time he was sold!. Owner now taken him back to put out on loan but does know the score. Shame, he was quite a character and much liked. Other sales liveries tend to go quite quickly once they have been prepared but equally, YO doesn't tend to take on anything she thinks is quirky or could ruin her own reputation! Edited as it sounds like I am suggesting yours is just that but was actually meaning thats why the sales liveries tend to move on quite quickly!

I agree - on the 2 occasions I have bought I have purchased the first horse I have been to see (last time I did view a second on the way home but it was lame).

It may sound irresponsible buying the first horse but by the point of viewing I had read a LOT of adverts, spoken to 4 or 5 sellers before arranging to go and see THE ONE - if you ask the right questions you can tell a lot before viewing.

WHen I view I have already determined it is the right horse - I would only not buy if something went wrong (lame, didnt match advert etc).

To answer the question - given the time of year I would take it off sales livery before you get into the horse equivalent of negative equity! Rest your market and try again next year. Good luck
