10.7 miles?

Me and another girl at Mossburn would so love to take the horses to the beach in the summer but we don't know if YO will agree.
It would make it much easier if we could hack there rather than hiring a horsebox as we'd have to raise the money to hire it.

Is that 10.7 miles there and back or just one way?
I did a 15 mile ride and that took 2 1/2-3 hours but that was at a mixed pace so 10 miles ight be about 1 1/2-2hrs?-sorry thats not much help!

My arab can walk at a little over 7kph... but that's really striding out and not hanging about (he's an advanced endurance horse)... so if you were to walk most of the way 17.2km would take you between 2 1/2 and 3 hours.

The difference if you did lots of trotting would be to half the time... my lad's average trot is about 14kph... much faster when he extends and goes into floaty arab trot mode.

I'd say 10 miles there and 10 miles back plus whatever you do on the beach is probably pushing it especially if your horses aren't used to covering such distances.

I'd hack it! If the weather is as lovely as today, it will be really nice to hack out for 2 hours or more! Take a picnic to the beach and make a day of it! Have fun! :-)
