how long to 'trial' a new feed for to see if it works?

As title really, how long should it take before you start seeing a difference e.g. weight gain? I have been feeding Outshine for 4 weeks and although he has a wonderful shiny coat I cant see much difference in his weight and am nearing the end of my bag and trying to decide if I should get another one (the cost is really the main reason for this - spend another £40 for it not to make a difference)

Nothing I have fed this winter has made any real difference.. maybe I am unrealistic in my expectations - I guess we are used to seeing rescue cases looking so much fatter after 6 weeks that in normal horses the changes are more subtle.

I give 6 weeks to see the full effects, but often with my mare I can tell sooner - she doesn't look different but becomes more and more hyper!

When I started with TopSpec, the difference was obvious in 6 weeks.

I think it depends on the horse to a degree. I had a warmblood who I tried lots of conditioning feeds with - the final one I tried did nothing for 3 months but then slowly he began gaining weight finally and kept it.

I personally wouldnt spend £40 on Outshine - Id just feed Soya Oil instead, way way cheaper!!
