Its nearly a month and horse still not quite right. It varies from day to day but walking on a sideways slope like a camber can be difficult on some days and OK on others - less than two weeks ago he was striding out as normal. He is losing his sole as it appears abscess had underrun but currently has pads on. Vet is aware but thinks he has come on really well since his laminitis, I'm concerned (or am I impatient) it isn't better by now.

Never more than a few days (and the old boy has had a few over the years!). I'd be inclined to think something else is going on if he is still not right after a month.

I would x ray as if just down to an abscess they should be sound after a few days.Mine had abscess but also had a low grade Lami which wasn’t being picked up due to people putting lameness down to abscess.

Mine had 4 abscesses over the years, he was always sound straight after apart from the one time when he wasn't when he was battling with laminitis. I would look at getting him x-rayed and seek the view of you farrier if that hasn't already been done. You have given it a fair bit of time for him to come right after it bursting, so I would be thinking there is more to this.
