As title - turned out for about 6-7 hrs. Water trough's solid (as everyone's is). Really lucky though, don't have LOADS of snow here - EMA - so still grazing fairly easily. Thought he'd be gagging for drink when he comes in but he isn't and there's always water left in the morning. He must be getting enough hydration from the grass/snow? I was feeling guilty that I can't supply buckets of water during the day so I just need reassurance this isn't detrimental to him. PLEASE

I think its something like 72 hours before they kick the bucket, perhaps literally.. so long as he's getting water every day at some point I'm sure he will survive.

it's fine - if he was having a problem he would be desperately thirsty when he comes in and he clearly isn't. Our horses are out from 8.30 till about 3 and I can't get water to them and they are all fine,

He will be fine dont panic!
Our auto water feeders froze over and they went without for who knows how long (stuck in out of owners choice - can be turned out if we wanted) before one of the grooms noticed. Had to go and buy snowy a new water bucket! Wish i hadnt given mine away now when i moved

Could you take a bucket & a water carrier up to the field?

My two aren't coming back to the gate for any during the day. There is grass under the snow & I think they're getting enough with the snow they must be consuming with the grass. Still 2 or more wees each at night!

I wouldn't panic - when daughter borrowed No1 Little Grey Welshie she was VERY picky about water - wouldn't drink at our house, half a mile from her field, I even bought similar big blue buckets in case that was the problem, even in very hot weather , we tried all sorts of containers, sometimes she might drink a little from the dog bowl but that was it, even on a really hot day she'd wait 6-7 hours till she went back home to drink (and wee) there!

I was worrying about toto too but he seems ok. If you offer him some water when he comes in he won't touch it and if you do the pinch test he isn't dehydrated. If your still worried about him I am working mids/lates next week so will be going up most days before work so can break up your trough if you want
