How long would you leave these on for?

I was told that you should only leave them on for a max of 12 hours - I use mine every night and take them off during the day.

You should also not put them on straight after you ahve ridden - allow the horse to return its heartbeat to normal before/cool down.

PS - I forgot to say that you should really build the horse up to having them on all night, so try them for about an hour first. SOme horses/people can ahve a funny reaction to them. I felt really wierd when i started using my human stuff - I could feel the blood being pumped round my body!!!

The horse that wears these boots had ligament damage in both front legs and after using these and a supplement all the time, he is great. Magnets are really good for keeping them/you warm aswell!!

Yes, that happened to me too when I started using mine. Very strange!

I will ask the manufacturers about max times, as AM said, and build them up slowly.

PS: does anyone have any experience using magnetic hock wraps? My horse has a capped hock - just cosmetic, no internal damage (has been x-rayed), but someone mentioned to me that perhaps a magnetic hock boot might help bring it down. Any thoughts?

No harm in trying, I have never personally had a capped hock but the magnets work to heal things by drawing more oxygen to the affected area (you may know this). So you can always try it and see - you could buy a small magnet that you coould bangade/sew into a hock boot (This is my money saving tip!!) I make all my stuff up - except for the leg wraps.

re; magnetic hock wraps.
Magnets work by increasing blood flow to an area (should not be used if infection suspected as the blood can carry toxins around the body, so an increased blood flow will increase chances of this). An increase in blood flow means an increase in oxygen, nutients ect and aids healing. I would check with your vet re using the magnetic hock boots. Would think it would be ok as the blood is what helps to circulate the lymphatic system and so it may help to disperse the fluid. As i say, i would check with the vet first.
