so i have a 4 1/2 month old staffie x, i am walking for about 30 mins a day, is this to much for her? or should i be walking her less or not at all on do training instead of the walk, she gets training through out the day in little parts, so as not to bore her.

I'd be focusing on brain training and bonding and lead manners at this stage, don't get into walking for exercise until 12 months or so.

Aaah I had no idea? I feel a terrible owner. But mine have so much energy? We think they are roughly 11 months or so old (just a guess) - one of them has a big moment yesterday and cocked his leg for the first time! no more puppy squatting!

I almost feel that when I am teaching lead manners, I don't have a chance until they've been walked and released some energy and can concentrate!

I hope I'm not going to be the cause of joint problems further down the line!

You've probably not done any harm, it does depend on the breed, larger weight bearing breeds you have to be very careful. Things like offlead running around on grass wouldn't worry me as much as marching smartly along on the pavement, jumping over obstacles, on and off sofa, in and out of car, up and down stairs, it's repetitive movement on hard surfaces which does damage, if the joints are genetically good they're harder to damage but it's better to be safe than sorry IMO :)

Mines a hyper whippet on speed and we do a half hour walk once a day for my sanity! He's 12 weeks old and if he doesn't get out and have regular brain training he's a non stop whirlwind. I only have a tiny yard though so it makes up for tgeres fact he can't run round there.

We've just got an 11 week old labradoodle. We just let her out in the garden for a run about very regularly (for toilet) and twice a day we are taking her just down the road and back (10 mins if that) purely to get her used to being lead. Seems to be enough for her as she's pretty good in the house, has bouncy moments of course but plenty of sleepy times.
