When you were looking to buy a horse, how long did you look before you found the horse for you?

Did you buy your horse from a dealer or private seller?

Just being nosey!

Thanks

Of the two horses I have atm:

Star - first horse I looked at, fell in love, and bought her

Be - looked for a good 15+ months

with quite a number of disappointments along the way, but it was worth it as she ticked every single box of my wish list

Both were private.

With Ari it took me about six weeks to actually find him but I did loads of watching on the internet first to suss out prices etc before actively looking . It was a question of finding a horse to do a job so I had particular criteria. When I saw him I knew instantly, even though he is a grey and I can't stand them usually!

I bought him privately, the guy had owned him since he was two (he's five now).

With my mare who is my main horse i searched for 4 months but proberly did not look as hard as i could have. I had a real confidence problem after buying a few bad ones and seriously doubted my judgement when it came to buying, i have a lovely mare now who as made me feel great about why i wanted horses in the first place. Oops forgot to say bought her privately .

When I found Rauti I had been looking for about 3 months, travelling a lot. I had a very specific horse in mind and a budget which couldn't really be stretched too much!

Frodo and the yearling just kind of happened... I wasn't actively looking for a horse when I bought them.

All three of them were bought from their breeders.

About 10mins, did not buy him though, I was given him as was told they could not do anything with him and was going to have him shot......:o, the rest is history

I look for Cappy for around 3 months tried various horses none suited. We bought him from a dealer. Fany was also from a dealer, we looked for ages on the internet but only viewed 2 before her.
