How long?

How long do you reckon it would take to hack 5 miles? Mostly in walk, bit of trot. Horse isn't lazy but doesn't storm along either, just has a normal/average walking pace.

1.5 hours, bit less?

I'd say so, possibly a bit less. Just thinking that it usually takes me about an hour to go roughly four miles on my horse in walk, although that can involve a lot of spooking and some spinning too!

Last weekend it took me 1hr 10 mins to go 4.2 miles but that involved a lot of stopping to check my map, opening and closing bridleway gates, and generally getting lost. This time I do actually know where I'm going. Drove the route this afternoon and most of it has big/wide verges so I reckon I could manage a fair bit of trot if I'm pushed for time.

It takes me roughly an hour to walk 4 miles on foot, if I'm doing my "shopping centre walk". (I can really power along when I want too) so I'd imagine a horse would take a bit less
