How many bales of hay & shavings can you get on pallet ?

Moving to DIY yard with limited storage. Think i might have gone overboard in terms of ordering in bulk to keep me going!

Roughly how many small bales of hay and bags of shavings can you get on an average size pallet without playing Jenga and it all coming topling down. - feel i might be bring some home...

I used to put 8 bales of hay on one pallet as that is as high as i could reach, could probably fit more if you have someone tall around to heave them up!

Its not really about how high you can stack them, more about how high you can safely get one down from...

Weightwise, about 1 ton, which equates to about 40 x 25kg bales of shavings, similar small bales of hay. But it is more about how high you can stack them and how you can manage to get them down from!

I usually put 9 hay bales on a pallet.

I keep them stacked quite high so they are the right height to slide onto my shoulder and carry over to the stables.

I can stack 5 high before getting them down becomes dangerous. When we had shavings we stacked about 30 on two pallets. Part of the reason we switched to wood pellets. We can stack 65 bags, enough for two for a winter, on one pallet and it's nowhere near as high or as likely to topple as the bags are so much flatter. It saves us loads of room and is much safer
