Good evening all.My dearest and best friend has very kindly offered me 2.3 acres to cut for hay/haylage.I was wondering a rough guesstimate of how many square bales i could get off of that, and a rough price as to how much a farmer would charge to cut and bale pref haylage.Thankies.

what size?

regular, D1000, D1010?
round bales?
small bale haylege?
big bale haylege?
round bale haylege?

I had just under 2 acres cut for standard square bale hay and my grazing is pretty poor, not fertilised or treated (I have a good doer). I got 109 bales off it.

on good old turf hay meadows you should average 120 small bales of hay/ acre. Ours is wet land so slow to get going and is rested from feb and fertilised in april and we get roughly 300 bales from just under four acres.

We've got a 2 acre field thats being cut next week if this weather dries up, farmer thinks we'll get about 200 bales, but thats small hay

My friend cut half an acre and had 48 bales!
Im gonna sell most of mine cos Ive got 4 natives and 10 acres set in 6 fields, so they wont need loads!
