Anyone know how many calories I burn mucking out? Both a full muck out & a lazy skip out?? And all other horse related jobs? I'm sure it must be loads, cos I'm always kn*ckered!

Also riding? Much much does that burn, on average, as obviously it depends on whether you are "working" or leisurely hacking??

Am just interested as decided I need to lose 3 stone in time for a wedding in mid august and that means losing 5Ib/wk, which is loads so may need to step up my exercise a bit!

Join Slimmingworld. You won't lose 5 lb a week, but you could easily lose 2 to 3 lb a week if you stick to the plan.

If you find a way of losing 5lb a week let me know!

When I looked it up it was less than I'd hoped!

Lazy hack at a walk is 100cal an hour. Brisk hack with lots of trot and canter ups it to 240 an hour.

Energetic mucking out is 480 an hour - but my boxes only take me half an hour and no time at all when they're out in summer 24/7.

Energetic schooling is good too at 360 an hour.

You need to burn 3500 calories per pound of fat but it doesn't exactly translate. This article is interesting....

Good luck with your weight loss.

It's normally £10, but think it's half price at the moment. Then it costs £4.50 per week. It is great for people who want to eat lots of food and still lose weight.

I think that is my problem, I do like to eat lots but if I think I can eat lots (either of the right or wrong stuff) then my brain (and tummy) just hears the word "lots" and I eat lots of whatever! I need to cut right down and eat the bear minimum of food. I'm thinking fruit for breakfast & snacks, had small bowl of museli for lunch then tiny portion of meat & veg for tea. Oh, and drinking lots of water everytime I feel slightly hungry.
Will let you know if it works!!

Be careful, don't starve yourself, as you won't keep the weight off. I feel horrible when I'm hungry. Weak, headachy and grumpy. Id rather be fat!

I'm no expert, but my advice is: Don't eat too much bread, and don't eat meat and potatoes on the same day!
