how many feeds are you still feeding?

im only asking this as usually i drop my feeds down to one a day in the summer.. as soon as colder weather starts i up to 2 a day and sugar beet..

my gelding holds his weight great but my mare and yearling seem to of dropped a wee bit ..
they are due for worming so will get that done and i think i may put them back on 2 a day as i dont want to struggle in winter getting weight on..

I still feed two meals a day but leave out the sugarbeet, they get chaff, nuts and mix but work 1hr a day in school and at weekends they get a 2hr hack sat & sun so they maintain their weight through work.

Actually up'ed mine in the summer as he's in a lot more work, still on 2 feeds but decent ones of chop comp mix and sb

All of mine live out 24/7 and they have:

Olympic (out of work) - Nothing

Missy (moderate work) - a handful of chaff and mix when she's been worked

Woody (hard work) - 1/3 of a scoop of high fibre cubes (soaked), big heaped scoop of alfa a, corn oil, electrolytes (he's a skinny bugger

)

Given that my 4yo insists on growing he is getting a scoop of mix morning and evening plus extra haylage, and is still a slim jim.

The 8yo is getting a scoop once a day

The 12yo looks like he is going to burst so gets nothing but grass

mine all get fed
hifi-older mare and baby get alfa a oil to help weight, the 5yo gets happy hoof.
all get top top spec comprehensive and a small amount of hi fibre cubes in feed.

they get fed the same in winter except more alfa a oil and i add in some sugar beet.

both of mine are still on hard feed (once a day) my colt gets sugar beet,chaff and some pasture mix as there is not alot of grass for him and he is growing, my other pony is on a handful of sugar beet,small bit of chaff, some blue chip and a handful of oats, I need to watch his weight, but he is only being fed to hold condition as I show him, otherwise he probably would get nothing!!
