How many miles do you ride while out hacking. Day to day hack and long hacks. And how long does it take you.

Just interested to see how hard other peoples horses work.

I know schooling is harder work for them.

Well, I went out last weekend on a bit of a mission, and reckon I covered about 8/9 miles in about 2-2.5 hours, but a fair bit of that is roadwork so was done at a walk. Usually go out for about an hour and a half at the weekends at the mo, but again, lots of roads round us now so lots of walking, hence not that many miles!!

When Rose was in full exercise we used to go for about 1.5 to 2 hours usually, covering probably 8 miles or so. Used to do quite a lot of pleasure rides doing up to 18 miles and averaging between 6 and 10 miles an hour depending on distance.

Usually between 4 and 7 miles. Takes between 40 mins and just over an hour depending on how much trotting we do (lots at the moment as eventing starts in 7 weeks!)

Yesterday went out for 3 hours and probably did between 12 - 15 miles. Walked on the roads and trotted or cantered on bridleways. Most weekends go out at least once 1.5 hours plus a week

Well when we are both fit! Our week loop (pre work) is 3 miles and takes half an hour and weekend loop is usually 6 miles and takes just a smigen under 1 hour...all road work so majority done in steady trot. If we do a pleasure ride away from home of 15 miles it usually takes us a lot less because he blasts round at super pace trot!
I disagree that schooling is harder work though as it depends what is done...most people I know round me who school do not actually achieve much other than walking about creating patterns in the sand with the occasional trot! I do schooling whilst I hack and given that my hacks are all done in trot with walks on downhills only and loads of steep hills...I would say my horse works harder in that scenario.

Varies between a mile round the block to 12miles round a very large block! Most of that is walk and trot as its all roadwork around here sadly.

Fun rides are about 10miles but they seem to find them harder as we do faster work on those!

Depends who I am with and whether it's an evening or weekend ride and whether it's with the SE club, midweek ride would be about an hour usually, a weekend hack going steady with a few steady canters would be about 3.5 to 4 hours, not sure of the miles, a club ride would be 12 to 20 miles ( some are longer for advanced riders) depending on venue, did 18 miles in 2.5 hours at xmas, but that was with a friend whose mare is like a steam engine and goes a fast pace and is used to endurance rides, did 8.5 hours on holiday last summer with breaks for me and his lordship, mostly walk, few trots and canter along the beach.

It really depends how much time I have.

Yesterday we went for a hack, but wasn't too long as one wasn't fit enough to go further. So went 6 miles, took an hour.

Other times I'll do 10-15 miles and it will take 2-3 hours. It also depends if its on roads or not. I could do our own farm ride in 20-30 minutes (5 miles) as it's all fields so I canter/gallop
