If you do, what type and where abouts are you based.

We have cows, dairy cows. 220+ of them and two stock bulls. We're on the Staffs/Cheshire border close to Crewe. (Junction 16 of M6)

Good luck to all fellow farmers out there. Looks like we're in for a bumpy ride.

I would like to wish all the farmers good luck out there too.

I am supposed to be moving my horses to a farm with cattle in about two weeks. But they will be staying put for the time being until it is totally safe to do so.

btw I am off the A21 in kent.

I hope you are too far away from it all Patches and that it doesnt affect you.

1,200 sheep. Lambs need weaning and we need to move the lambs back to this farm (we have 2 farms 1 mile a part). They can't all stay there as there won't be enough grass. We'll now have to get a licence

and then have to move them by trailer instead of walking them along the road.

We're South Warwickshire, 3 miles from Warwickshire College, Moreton Morrell.

Not personaly but where I keep my horse is a deer farm plus we are right in the middle of the New Forest with all the loose cattle and wild deer.

No, but some ewes I hand reared as lambs are within the surveillance zone.

We also have a cattle farm nextdoor to the yard (wich is just outside the Protected zone) and on Monday I rode through the middle of the area now within the Protected zone.

Good luck all.

We are based in the Brecon area and keep 145(varies as we buy & sell) fattening steers/bulls and approx 800 ewes with lambs. I really cannot believe that this is happening again

Things have been bad enough with the lack of dry weather (we haven't started our harvest yet as to make wrapped silage instead of hay costs so much more and we have been hoping that the weather will eventually come) We have steers booked to go to the abattior next week and a number of bulls ready to go but I imagine that all movements will be stopped for this coming week. My husband hasn't been away on holiday since 1987 (I take our 13 year old son away with another friend in the same position) but this year we have booked to go to France at the end of August. I just feel that we aren't meant to go ! and I was so looking forward to it.
We also let a holiday cottage and last time we suffered so many cancellations just like the rest of the hotels B&B's so can everyone please pray that the outbreak is contained and that everyone doesn't go through what they went through in 2001.

we rent a cottage on a farm with 230 dairy cows, a friesian and a simmi bull, plus about 150 calves, drys and heifers. my horse is actually turned out with the dry cows at the moment; does anybody know whether this is a bad idea?

We've got about 30 cows on the farm where we keep the horses, and my grandad has 200+ sheep. Uncle own dairy farm with 300+ cows. Other uncle owns a beef farm, 200+ and 100+ sheep. Another relative owns another beef farm, 200+ cattle. All in the same village. Pray this doesnt spread.

During the last foot and mouth we had deer but they were contained in 20 acres of 8ft electric fenced stock fencing right in the middle of the farm.
Although I lost money by holidaymakers cancelling bookings, I made money out of allowing local dog walkers to walk their dogs in a couple of secure fields away from any animals.
It was a case of needs must as I had bills to pay and there were no cows/sheep within a mile of me.
Now we only have horses but if it rears it's head anywhere nearer than Surry we will close the farm and stop hacking out. My neighbours grazing cattle and sheep have them adjoining us this time of year and it wouldn't be fair.

Thank god we don't have anything on our place - apart from wild deer, and no one bothered about them last time, but the nearest outbreak to us (2001) was about 10 miles away.

YO has a handfull of beef calves (lost the whole lot last time) plus the neighbouring farm have cattle and pigs.

Not personaly but the farmer i rent my land from has 100 sheep and 120 cows and calfs and 2 breeding bulls, at the moment their all away on the hills for summer grazing about 10 miles away in the middle of know where. There is only one cow at the home farm (where my horses are) and she's been inside and has been for the last 3 weeks.

Theres a big pig farm behind us and farms alround us with cattle, sheep and pigs.

Our farmers were very luck last time there were only a few case in the whole of the north of scotland.

We've in Moray in the north east of scotland

In Arundel - Not even an hour after from the FM case
I live in a small area built up of small holders, were every body knows every body, they are friends and nieghbours and I will be deversated for them. James yard owner has hunders of sheep, it would really hit him hard. Of course I worry what might happen for us liverys. I mean Jesses was loose on the forest with the cattle and what not only wednesday and yesterday I had my family come to the yard from Surry. It makes you think about your everymove. The horses aren't going to be leaving the yard and thats for sure, I just hope he doesn't ask all horses to be kept in, wilf is fresh the best of times.

There was a guy up here tried that, but the poor bugger only made about £250 from it

Not a lot considering he used to grass let a lot of land and got no income that year

I have a dozen or so sheep and lambs and am in North Cambs. We usually run a few pigs in Q4 but that will obviously depend what happens this year.

At work they have 10 goats, 20 cows, 60 pigs and 400 sheep with lambs although many have gone to slaughter for lamb already, at home there is a few bullocks, really hope it doesn't get to us in essex as i will be out of a job and ill have to move back home most probably.
