How many of you are now on restricted or no turn out due to the unusual weather?

we are and have been for a few weeks. Can't blame the YO though, the weather last year through summer and autumn, followed by a wet winter has meant that all the fields are a sodden, disgusting mess. It is the same on all the local livery yards as we are in a river valley.

Most years we cope fine and we manage to turn out all year round, but the YO has asked people to really restrict it for the time being, i.e just at weekends for a few hours. We have individual paddocks and so we manage our own land carefully. The ones who turn out daily are the ones who the YO has spoken to.

I know it's not ideal, but we have a great indoor turnout pen and a decent arena, so we are finding ways to keep them all occupied. I can't wait til the Spring comes though....surely we deserve a better summer this year after the one we just had!!!!

I have not been affected so far other than through choice although I feel very sorry for our YO now DEFRA are threatening the farmers with massive fines for having animals on poached land. The fields aren't actually that bad considering the extreme weather we have had. I am just glad I opted for stable and grazing rather than just grass.

I have my own place and have had to restrict turnout. I have 3 out in a 3/4 acre paddock that drains well-their winter grazing has from 1-4 inches of ground water on it. this is the summer starvation paddock and has little grass left, so am going through hay rather quickly. both the ponies and my horse are in over night. I have had them in on the odd day but thankfully not consecutive days-am hoping the strong winds we are to have all week will help. My lot generally go out in all sorts but am trying to protect my grazing rather than coddling them.

our grazing was closed for a month... lots of people falling off fresh horses. They are now going out alternative days mares one day geldings the next. It seems all yards round Windsor have done the same as the clay is so bad,:)

We have our 2 at home, since the fields have never had chance to dry out all summer, our winter field was soon trashed, we opened part of the summer field and fenced off the winter field, both horses have chosen to stay in the barn area for weeks now, they are as sick of the mud as we are

i have my own yard have been there for 15 years and NEVER seen my fields so bad!!!! :(
i currently have mine turned out on my driveway i have 4 horses and they have a section of drive ( the size of 3 stables put together each lol!) each lol! not ideal but it gets them out the stable, i am unable to exercise in the week due to work and dont have an arena so like them to go out if they can!!! plus my youngster would go insane shut up all day!!!

they go out at 7 and come back in at 3, they happy enough lol :)
