is it just me??!! everyone else seems to have a gaggle of horsey friends and relatives, i couldn't take my OH he would be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike!!

I do all the time. Its not so bad during the week, as lots of people are on their own, but I went out today and as you said everyone had family and friends there. I did feel a bit of a saddo

I go on my own and will find it even harder now that I have two horses. It takes quite a bit of organizing and you don't always get the warm-up you want with nobody to set fences in the collecting ring, but it is better than not going. People generally are quite friendly.

I always used to go on my own and I generally had a nice chat with someone near me. I started travelling on my own after my friends horse (we used to travel together) savaged mine in his trailer. We didnt fall out over it she had someone else she could travel with and my horse was such a good boy travelling that I didnt think he deserved a travelling companion that wanteda pound of flesh. We had tried tying them really short but this seemed unfair.

I go to shows on my own, i don't like it either, thinking of going back on a good livery yard so at least i could pair up with some other horse person. My sister events up & down the country and i offten meet up with her, just to give a helping hand. so if any one who lives nr me, guildford/woking way, give us a shout gladly would welcome some company going out and about.

I do because I am single and all my horsey friends are busy with their horses. It wasn't much fun though when I got knocked unconcious at a show last year...

All the time. People at my yard think I am mad, as I have a habit of hitching the trailer and going off to something.

Got it down to a fine to a fine art now, the only time that I struggled was when I went to dressage and had to be straight in.... in the flap I forgot the test and had to hijack someone in the carpark to call it.

I find that many people are quite supportive when you are on your own and don't mind keeping an eye on things when you need to go to the loo or the secretarys table.

I go on my own. As long as you get organised before you go its not to bad. I try and pre enter then enclose a SAE so they can send me my number in the post so I dont have to take a horse near the secretarys tent. I usually take a snack and drink as well so that I dont need the refreshment stalls which is usually out of bounds to horses. I never leave my horse tied alone to the box - if I go somewhere she has to come with me. Most people are very helpful if I explain I'm on my own. Not had any bad experiences going on my own but I do seem to be the only one with "Billy no mates! LOL. Best thing is you dont have to wait till your travel buddy is ready to go home (There always normally in the last class of the day) you can just go when you've finished

I always go on my own. Just me and horse on a day out like a couple! I leave him in box when go to enter and he is always fine, I do tend to ask people next door to keep an ear out. I like to do my own thing and other people will just get in the way!

I do all the time and have done since I was 19. I don't always go on my own taking bandages off etc is sometimes a bit tricky and it can be a pain when I take 2 but its managable. We have quite a close horsey community and its always the same people at shows so we all help each other as much as possible.
I've travelled over to the UK on my own before on the boat with my horse but won't do that again if its not the fast ferry its to much hassle for 13 hours.

Never. I like to have someone to keep an eye on my horse if I need to collect results or go and get a cup of tea or whatever. If none of my horsey friends are available my non horsey dad is always happy to come along and give me a hand.

I quite often go on my own, or with a friend and their horse. I quite like it actually but a girl (I say girl, but she's 26!) I know has to take her whole 'entourage' with her where ever she goes this includes her parents, brother and sister, sisters children and a friend of the family. Quite often a few people from her yeard go to watch too!

I always go on my own, i love not having the pressure of people watching!!! I can usually grab someone to hold my horse while I walk the sj course! he is so good bless him people keep saying its dangerous if anything happens, but we are in the age of mobile phones if I need picking up there will always be someone!

I go on my own except when oh offers to chauffer. I used to give friends lifts but got p'd off with the hassle, their classes were always the other end of the day, one girl borrowed my grooming kit to use on her grey horse so my brown horse was covered in white hair when I brushed him, I always wet my hay which helps stop it blowing everywhere but others don't so my horse and tack would be covered in dust and seeds, someone plonked their haynet in the living of my lorry and were surprised when I grumbled about getting hay all over my socks when changing, one friend had an ultra clingy pony and I couldn't leave it long enough to warm up properly, this probably sounds really petty but my horse never wees on the lorry, and never gets squitty and I hate it when a horse pees on board and it just runs everywhere and anything on the floor gets soaked! Once I wasn't going to a show and lent my lorry to the yard who travelled six horses in relay to and fro the show; when I went to use it the following weekend it was full of 6 horses dung, when I ranted everyone was saying "I thought so and so would do it".
I probably sound like a real moaning minnie but I drive an old banger as my car, don't smoke, rarely drink and economise everywhere so I can afford my lorry, and think that if I can do it, so can a lot of other people! Now I just want to go to a show and please myself.

I have no choice but to go on my own. Its no problem for dressage but it can be a pain for SJ as it would be lovely to have someone to help in the collecting ring instead of having to wait for someone else to put the jump up and down.

Do any of you use a trailer and travel on your own? Your horses must be so good to load. I'd be worried mine might pull pack as I went round to close up the trailer ramp.

Yes, and sometimes I take a horse!

Seriously, Troggy often goes to shows on her own, but only with one horse. She is very organised, and on the occasions I have gone along to help, I have really had very little to do.

i have occasionally got dropped off at a show and left, and once hacked to one alone which was interesting with a fidgety mare. but normally i go with atleast one friend and their horse, and my dad or their partner drives the lorry,
or if its just my pony going then my friend takes me - as i am only 21 so im too young to drive the yards lorry but i hate going alone my mare is stressy which makes me stressy too so having a helping hand or just someone to have a chuckle with in the lorry makes the day much nicer for me personally!

I go on my own all the time as OH is not really interested. I can't take two at the same time as that is too much for me to cope with, but luckily either one on their own will stand still in the lorry so it's not too bad. The worst bit is warm days when I have to put my jacket on and warm up with it!! It's also a bit depressing when everyone else has loads of friends with them...

i used to hack to shows on my own or hire transport and go on my own. now i've got my own trailer and a new horse (a youngster) and i'm about to start going out again. have to have someone with me for the first few as dont have trailer license yet, but once i've got it i'll be off on my own. horse loads well and stands still once in, so should be ok for me to get round and do the back bar. just means no-one to take off my poncy white bandages

I am happy to go on my own. I have done for years.
Recently I have had help and although it is lovely having the help it is even nicer having someone else come along and enjoy the day with you.
