Just following on from how many horses you have as quite a few people have more than 1 how many of you have to pay livery for them all?. I rent a self contained yard of 4 boxes for £350 a month electric and water included and about 8acres grazing with it. So naturally ive now acquired 4 horses :)

I have 2 and pay livery on both, though have sharers for my old mare to contribute. Not something I would choose to do but my old mare is hale and hearty and I still want to compete. Therefore I keep 2 and never have any money!

We pay £700 month for 9 stables, 12 acres and a manege (small but good surface) water elec etc included. 2 of the stables are not that nice, but wouldn't take much to tidy them up. Luckily at the moment they are full of stuff, as we have now got 7 horses and that could easily escalate to 9!

I pay livery for 3, one pony for me and two ponies for my 4year old daughter! I pay more than what you pay per month OP but we have the use of two amazing schools one indoor and a outdoor which never freezes so its well worth it :-)

If you've got more than one horse at livery you will be paying for more than one horse...

This - although my youngster is out in a field at grass and my riding horse is at a yard. So I pay livery on two horses to two different people!

That's excellent! I'm currently in rented field for 120 and has no water or electric and has 2 stables (1 door).
I'm moving to yard once my last pony goes to new home and the cheapest I can find is DIY £140

That is what I thought, unless of course you are renting your own land. I may have misunderstood the OP though.

I have 5 owners at my yard with 2 horses each, they pay the same amount for each horse, no discount. They eat the same, use the same space, take the same amount of time to feed and care for etc

I have one on DIYand 3 ponies on grass livery. It should be 2 ponies but am trying to find a loan for one of them... I don't expect a discount for having more than one. Thankfully it is not an expensive yard. I used to have mine on part livery but with move to DIY I can keep daughters' ponies too for same cost.

Have both mine on DIY, on buying the new horse i've changed to a new lovely DIY yard, its £42 quid/week for the two of them + hay at £2.50 a bale (so approx £47/week all in - they're both turned out 24/7 and hopefully will be all winter)! :D (was previously on a lovely yard buy was £37.50 for one horse (inc haylage & bedding), and we didnt have 24/7 turn out like we do at the new one)

Have 12 all on livery
1 on full (stallion)
3 mares and 5 young on stud livery
3 on DIY
All in the same place just different businesses so get 2 bills on for mares, stallion and young and one for the DIY

On last yard we run we were astounded at how many liveries got funny that there wouldn't be a discount for more than one!

As above it doesn't save you money having two with the same owner!

Also pony owners, the number who wanted a discount for a pony, which had smaller eaten down fields but were fed hay all year! They cost us far more to keep in hay, time and management.

I presume that the OP is interested in how many people who own more than one horse have them on livery as opposed to renting a field, renting a yard or having them at home.

Well it's only temporary, whilst I am pregnant and probably a maximum of 6 months after the baby is due, but I've got 2 on full livery, one on schooling livery and this is near London  (several years worth of savings have gone into funding this year :o)

As soon as I can, I plan to go back to DIY and ride them myself every day again - though not sure what child care costs will be, as I haven't looked into that properly yet.

My cousin pays £900 a month for part livery in north London! She is barking mad in my opinion. She lives on cereal with water.

I have 2 on full livery, but I have a job that funds it. I just don't have the time to DIY. And I only have beans on toast if that's what I fancy!

I have one on DIY at one yard and younster on grass livery at another. When he is ready for backing I will have to rethink the logistics issues of them being on separate yards.
